Does Newton Have A Law Explaining This?
I don’t care if they’re cookies or fruit and cake. What I want to know is how my unopened sleeve of Fig Newtons ended up like this:
I would have tried to sell this rare food anomaly on Ebay, but I was hungry. Coincidentally, this is the same reason I no longer have my potato chip shaped like Quebec.
UPDATE (11:50 PM 10/9/2008): This post has made the top 10 on ColdMud.com’s “Mains” list for October 9, 2008.ColdMud.com provides “The best food and drink writing and the latest news, reviews and gossip, updated daily from sources around the world.” I give all the credit to the Nabisco Newton handlers.

There’s a children’s book in here somewhere. The little cookie that didn’t fit in…
October 8th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
fake
October 8th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
Sorry Reese, I’m afraid not. 100% real. I’m most certainly not good enough at Photoshop to fake that.
October 10th, 2008 at 10:02 am
How old are you to be eating F.N.’s anyway? My grandma eats that stuff
nice find anyway. could be a Zeus offering…
October 10th, 2008 at 10:20 am
I DO NOT ACCEPT FIG NEWTONS AS OFFERINGS. THEY ANGER ME! OREOS ONLY, ELSE YOU GET A LIGHTNING BOLT UP YOUR ASS!
October 11th, 2008 at 3:44 pm
Yeah..send it to me
October 11th, 2008 at 3:57 pm
big deal…. gash
October 11th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
who gives a shit?
October 11th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
I munch on fig newtons a lot at work and occasionally come across a sleeve with one or more rotated newtons.
Sorry to burst your bubble, but this isn’t all that uncommon.
October 11th, 2008 at 11:08 pm
Uncommon or not…it blew my mind.
October 12th, 2008 at 12:44 am
This is beautiful!!
October 12th, 2008 at 1:52 am
You know every time Nabisco finds a defective fig newton tube they kill all their factory workers and replace them, right? I don’t know how you sleep at night.
October 12th, 2008 at 1:57 am
totally just made my day.
thanks for putting this up!
October 12th, 2008 at 2:35 am
wow this was exciting to me……goes to show what a pathetic loser i am!
October 12th, 2008 at 3:59 am
wow, I never thought something as silly as that would excite me so much ^_^
for all those people who say “who cares?”, why even comment? obviously you care
October 12th, 2008 at 9:45 am
Did you take a picture of the potato chip shaped like Quebec before eating it?
October 12th, 2008 at 11:48 am
Oh my, that’s exceedingly rare! That’s a lucky newton! They’re like the four leaf clovers of the fig based snack world.
October 12th, 2008 at 4:11 pm
Damn it I shot hot tea through my nose onto my keyboard. Hilarious..
October 13th, 2008 at 3:16 am
I actually laughed real hard…
October 13th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
I don’t understand the excitement. Oooh an accident from the factory. Who cares? How this blows anyone’s mind or how anyone would’ve even bothered to put it on Ebay is beyond me. I would just rip the pack open and eat them.
Like when an Oreo has an upside down cookie. Who cares. Eat the damn thing and move on with your life.
October 13th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
Looks like someone at the factory gave that one a lick before it was packaged and put it back wrong haha
October 14th, 2008 at 12:15 am
That’s totally photoshopped. I can tell by the pixels. You guys are sooooo gullible.
October 14th, 2008 at 12:28 am
Frank,
Actually, everyone else (except Reese) is right. This is most certainly not photoshopped.
There is an epidemic that exist on the internet today where no photograph can be posted without at least one person claiming photoshopping.
As always, you have nothing but my word to go on, so to each their own, but my assertion stands.

I’m amused. Yet sad for those who can’t see a little humor in a simple pleasure.
oh, and what the $#%$ does age have to do with F.N. enjoyment.
Thank you, Jeff, for sharing the photo. Wish I could have been around to share the fruitcake cookies, though. I do love them.
October 14th, 2008 at 1:58 am
Oh that’s hilarious – love the comment about thinking of selling on eBay but hunger got in the way!
BTW, I recently heard on the TV (most likely the Today Show) someone living to 100 and a main part of their diet was Fig Newtons!
I’m happy to have Stumbled Upon this, it made me laugh – thanks! Thumbs Up it is.
Blessings,
RH
October 14th, 2008 at 10:29 am
Hooray! Hunger wins! But poor lil’ figgy cookies… they ish gonna be eaten! *gasp* O.O
October 14th, 2008 at 2:13 pm
Great great great… what’s really funny is that I JUST finished eating my own little snack pack of FNs. Too good. Thanks for the post
October 14th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
Heh, I just saved and zoomed into the picture. There are no pixel faults. The picture is real. If you wish to contest it some more, save it, zoom in, and show where the pixel irregularities are. Otherwise, shove off and find a hobby other than accusing others of photoshop when you obviously have no photoshop experience.
October 14th, 2008 at 5:13 pm
As some one else said, I am glad I stumbled on this too, it brought a smile to my face. If for no other reason then it is funny!
I feel so sad for those who feel they have to try to debunk something as simple as this?
October 14th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Oh, I forgot to add…Darn tootin I like fig newtons
October 14th, 2008 at 7:11 pm
Now I want to go out to the store and buy Fig Newtons. Mmmmm Fig Newtons…
October 15th, 2008 at 9:59 am
The flavel on the conutter valve stuck for a millisecond.
October 15th, 2008 at 1:35 pm
I’ve seen that before in a package I bought.
October 15th, 2008 at 4:25 pm
This is something else we can blame on Bush. This will never happen when the Messiah, er, Obama is elected. He will implement a program, funded with money from the richest 5% of all Fig Newton lovers, to prevent this from happening by starting a Fig Newton Oversight Bureau within the FBI. Anyone caught messing with the Fig Newton production line will be sentenced to 5 years in GitMo after all the poor terrorists there are moved to downtown LA. We are going to finally live in a perfect world. Hall-e-lu-ja and Amen.
October 16th, 2008 at 3:16 am
wow. Tittilating. Is it strange that that makes me a little tingly inside?
I, like most people, leave food packages in their outer-shell cardboard boxes and, regrettably, would have missed altogether this wonder. It’s a sign of times to come, of the topsy-turvy twists and turns of the roller-coaster that is contemporary life… no, it’s a rip in the fabric of space-time, the smallest pinhole in the relative continuum… no, it’s a sign from the future, returned to warn us about the dangers of human cloning…
NO, It’s a GODDAMN MIRACLE! PRAISE SHEBA! All you who don’t bow down before the Holy Trinity of Fig and Jam and Light Chewy Cake shell shall Perish in the name of High Fiber Diets! And I will strike down upon thee with Great Cream-filled Vengeance and Fudgey Anger those who attempt to poison and destroy my Tastee Cake Brothers. And you will know my name is the Lord Little Debbie(TM) when I lay my Vengeance and Delicious Crumb Topping upon you!
… ahem….
October 18th, 2008 at 12:58 am
PHOTOSHOP!!!!
October 18th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
Who was the BONEHEAD who asked your age becasue you were eating Fig Newtons?!?!?!?! These were my son’s favorite all the way through grade school, you don’t have to have white hair to like certain foods … bonehead….
October 19th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
Fig Newtons are the bomb. I love them. Can’t keep em in the house, everyone horks them. In these days of mass-production, seeing an obvious mistake like that reminds us that nobody’s perfect:)
October 20th, 2008 at 9:43 pm
You fools. This guy obviously carefully opened the package, extracted a few cookies, and replaced them with one rotated 90 degrees. He then re-heat sealed the package and posted a photo of it in an attempt to stun the masses with his unbelievable photoshop skills. He then consumed the entire sleeve, thereby destroying the evidence and resulting in a really, really satisfying dump the following day.
October 20th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
PhotoshopExpert,
All false except for the satisfying dump and me eating the Newtons. The dump was Biblical.

Wow…exactly how high do u have to be to find that funny enough to get up and take a picture of it???
October 21st, 2008 at 7:32 pm
it happens on occasion because the foods are all packaged by machinery, every once in a while something slips up and the results are like this.
Like one time I bought a pack of Reese’s peanut butter cups, and they were switched; the 1st one was 2nd, and the 2nd was first.
Ok yeah my example is a joke, but yeah, the machinery trips up some time.

I work in a factory where they make those. The answer to you question is this: The Fig Newtons come out of an oven and move down a belt. They are flat on the belt which makes it hard for the people, not machines, to put the Newtons in those little trays.(Yes, people touch almost everyone of your Newtons!) So, before they get to the people, they fall down a little hill called a stacker that stands them up so they are easier to pack. Sometimes they fall the wrong way and they are coming so fast down the belt that the packers don’t have time to straighten all of them. No one cares enough to take those off the line before they get packaged. There you go. I hope I didn’t kill imagination. Also, It might be children with very strong mind powers…hmmm…

This definitely made me laugh, i reckon finding my fig newtons like that would amuse me too
whatever happened to the sweet and simple things in life
this is one of them

shiiiit, despite the answer that is still absolute craziness for some reason

I just had to comment when I saw the stupid comments saying ‘I don’t care’ or that this picture is a ‘fake’.
Why do people even bother saying ‘they don’t care’? Or to prove that this blog entry is a fake? Just do not mind the entry if you think it is no good! Move on with your life. Take a shower! Sheesh. Such people are big time INSECURE losers :p
Fake or not, a thought like this is quite amusing. It’s like when you eat M&M peanuts and you get one without a peanut
That’s the just like the point of this entry :p

Mmmm…. Figgy Newtons. Great breakfast food (I go for the fat-free, doesn’t save on the calories [check out the nutrition labels, paying attention to serving size], but fat and fiber combined is not a good thing for me). I love little food manufacturing/packing errors, always gives you an excuse to eat one more “the defective ones don’t count” or “can’t leave the oddball behind, might hurt its feelings”. Super-bonuses are the double Cheez-it or similar cut snacks and the Peanut M&M with 2 nuts.
