I’ve been exploring different ways to market this blog and gain loyal readers.  I comment on other blogs, utilize social bookmarks, and try to write quality, searchable content.  One thing I had not tried is using social networking.  It seems like this would be one of the first things I would use.  I made the decision early on that I wanted to wait until the blog had matured some before I started mass promotion.  My archive is sizeable, the site is programmatically stable, and I’m finding my voice, so I figured that it had become time to create a Facebook fan page for 2Lincolns.com.

Anyone with a Facebook account can join.  You can go to Facebook and search for “2Lincolns.com”, go directly to the fan page by clicking here, or utilize the Facebook “fan box” you see before the comments section of this post (must be viewing full post to see comments section).

The fan box is located at the end of every post, before the comments section.  On the 2Lincolns.com fan page, you can perform most of the standard Facebook functions and interact with other fans of the page.  In addition, click on the “Blog” tab to become a follower and have posts appear in your Facebook news feed.  Feel free to invite your Facebook friends to join as well.

For the tech saavy, remember that subscribing to the 2Lincolns.com RSS feed has, and always will be, an option.  If you don’t know what an RSS feed is, you’re a few years behind the rest of the class.  Click here to catch up.

However you decide to follow 2Lincolns.com, I appreciate you spending some of your precious internet browsing time here.

Welcome To 1996 Dude!

I’ve decided to fight back for the sanity of web developers everywhere. Anyone visiting 2Lincolns with an 800×600 resolution will now be redirected to this page.

I spent a decent amount of time designing 2Lincolns.com catering to those users who may visit the site with a resolution of 800×600 and those who may be using Internet Explorer 5.5. After awhile I asked myself, why the hell am I catering to the 1% of people stuck in the age of free Geocities web pages and animated GIFs? Many web developers feel my pain. With the quirks and periodical noncompliance of older browsers, as well as the display restrictions a resolution of 800×600 imposes, these internet users can be a hindrance to progressive and compliant web design.

It is my duty as a member of the internet community to discourage the usage of primitive technology for the sanity of web developers everywhere.  People, update your display settings or GTFO.  If you insist on browsing the internet in 1996 style, I’ll give you the internet circa 1996. That being said, if someone is visiting 2Lincolns with a resolution of 800×600, tough shit, they don’t get to see the page everyone else does.  Instead, they get served the following page:

I’m thankful to see that the majority of my visitors are using modern browsers such as Firefox and larger display resolutions, so the negative nature of this post doesn’t apply to most of you.  Just sit back, saavy internet user, and enjoy this walk through memory lane.  Table layouts, animated GIFs, horrible color schemes, and just overall HTML hell.  You know, kinda like Myspace.

Welcome to 2Lincolns

Welcome to 2Lincolns, a blog that chronicles the inner-workings of one of today’s most active minds–mine.

“It is a miracle that curiosity survives formal education” -Albert Einstein

Hello, and welcome to 2Lincolns.com! This marks the first of many posts on this blog. I started this blog, like many, to satisfy my personal need for a creative outlet. Yeah, selfish, I know. I’ve always been told I have a very “active” mind. Some intended this to be received in compliment, while others were probably politely attempting to tell me that I needed to seek psychological evaluation. Regardless, my thoughts have often been seen as intriguing, humorous, and at the least, entertaining. I cannot say for sure the reason why any of you are visiting this blog. I can, however, say that I am here to speak my mind and share with you my own perspective on a multitude of topics. Whether you come here to laugh, learn, debate, or kill time at work, I hope you find what you were looking for.

Please visit my about page for more information on 2Lincolns.

Again, welcome, and thank you for visiting 2Lincolns. Whether humbly presenting my two cents or strongly voicing my ten dollars, you can be assured you’re getting my 2 Lincolns.
